Paris-Vincennes, Wednesday, 21 December: Older saddle trotters of the medium winning category will contest today`s Prix Pierre Giffard (5th race/16.15 h/75,000 Euro/2850 m) on the Plateau de Gravelle. An almost identical match was decided here 13 days ago with the Prix d`Honfleur (Course B) and it ended with a big surprise.
It was not Fakir de l`Ecluse (Alexandre Abrivard) and Flower By Magalou (Eric Raffin), who were favoured on the betting market, who were ahead in the end, but Dorgali (Loanne Fauchon) and Esperanza Idole (Jean-Yann Ricart). The two outsiders settled the victory between themselves and behind them Falco Berry (Matilde Herleiksplass) was still in the picture while the mean ones saw `red`. Fakir de l`Ecluse won a ride against Fiaschetto for this in October, who later turned the tables in the Prix de l`Ile d`Oleron (Group 3) in the battle for second place. In Flower By Magalou`s favour is the honourable mention in a `C` ride on 10 November. One who could put a spanner in everyone`s works is Kennedy (Adrien Lamy), who has won several times in France this year and later even competed in the Yonkers International Trot in the USA, finishing fifth. Figaro de Larre (Benjamin Rochard) is also considered for the front. Most recently, he won his tenth race here this season.
