Schützenprinz vs Five in Chantilly

Chantilly, Tuesday 11 April: Eight races will be run today in Chantilly. Among the better tests is the Prix du Champ d`Alouette (5th race/16.10 h/28,000 Euro/1800 m) in the `Classe 2` category, intended for four-year-old horses.

For German interest, Jean-Pierre Carvalho will saddle Schützenprinz (Aurelien Lemaitre), who is competing in France for the first time. Six starts, two victories and four placings are on the account of the four-year-old. He last ran in Düsseldorf in October and finished third. The role of favourite should fall to Machete (Chrstophe Soumillon), who clearly exceeded expectations when he finished seventh in the French Derby. On his seasonal debut at Fontainebleau, he did not finish higher than fourth ahead of La Pelemoise (Yoann Rousset), who was a 600-10 maiden outsider against ten rivals before that. Solar Science (Mickael Barzalona) impressed as a two-year-old on the sand track at Deauville, where My Fancy (Maxime Guyon) finished a good third in the Prix Jebel (Group 3) a year ago. At the same venue, Perle Rouge (Eddy Hardouin) fought for places in the Prix de la Nonette (Group 2).
