All-Weather Finals in Newcastle

Newcastle, Friday 7 April: The All-Weather Championships finals take centre stage in Newcastle today. Race prizes of one million pounds will be handed out in seven races.

In the Middle Distance Championships (4th race/16.00pm/200,000 pounds/2050m), Forest Of Dean (James Doyle), third two years ago, is the horse to beat. Currently at Lingfield, he did not finish higher than sixth behind Harrovian (Robert Havlin). The latter is also trained by John and Thady Gosden. He finished well behind Forest Of Dean when appearing here in January.

The Mile Championships (5th race/16.35pm/150,000 pounds/1609m) should not be taken away by Berkshire Shadow (Oisin Murphy). The Wolverhampton-winning four-year-old faces two-time winner Positive (Adam Kirby) this season and San Andreas (James Doyle), who competes with strong form from Ireland.

In the Fillies and Mares Championships (6th race/5.10pm/150,000 pounds/1420m), a duel is shaping up between Manaafith (Jim Crowley) and Queen Aminatu (Cieren Fallon), who have won their last two starts over sand.
