Schiergen with Novemba at Doncaster

Doncaster, Wednesday 7 September: The four-day St Leger Festival at Doncaster begins today with a seven-race card centred on the Group 3 Sceptre Fillies Stakes (4th race/16.35pm/£80,000/1400m).

The Peter Schiergen-trained Novemba (Bauyrzhan Murzabayev) could provide for a German success. The four-year-old is no stranger to England, she has competed at Ascot several times and always returned to the stable with money. Her main opponents include Heredia (Sean Levey), who ran in the Oak Tree Stakes (Group 3), and Adaay In Asia (Dylan Hogan), who has not been beaten for four starts. Umm Kulthum (Oisin Orr), unplaced in the Jubilee Stakes (Group 1), hits it fittingly and could well build on her April list-topper.
