Opener in Longchamp with Steinberg chance

Longchamp, Thursday, 8 September: Eight races are on the programme in Longchamp today. The introductory Prix Joubert (1st race/15.53 h/55,000 Euro/2800 m) is aimed at three-year-old fillies and will be decided with German participation thanks to Derida (Rene Piechulek) from the successful Sarah Steinberg/Stall Salzburg stable. Queen Trezy (Christophe Soumillon) and Sea The Sky (Maxime Guyon), who recently placed in the Prix Minverve (Group 3), are among her main opponents.

The two-year-old stallions continue in the Prix des Chênes (2nd race/16.28pm/80,000 Euro/1600m), which favours Pivotal Trigger (Sean Foley) and Adelaide River (Ryan Moore) from Ireland, from the stables of Jessica Harrington and Aidan O`Brien respectively. Kubrick (Cristian Demuro), Hayejohn (Christophe Soumillon), Cte d`Escarbagnas (Maxime Guyon) and Bolshkinov (Gregory Benoist) have already won and will not make it easy for the guests.

In the Prix d`Aumale (3rd race/17.03 h/80,000 Euro/1600 m), which is aimed at two-year-old mares, there is a lot to be said for an English success. John and Thady Gosden saddle the two-time winner Liftoff (Robert Havlin) and Archie Watson is in the mix with Heavenly Breath (Hollie Doyle), who performed well on sand at Kempton. Start Me Up (Mickael Barzalona), Terrestrial (Stephane Pasquier), Left Sea (Maxime Guyon) and Blue Rose Cen (Aurelien Lemaitre) are the locals` hopes.
