Joel Stakes in focus

Newmarket, Friday, 23 September: On the second day of the meeting in Newmarket, numerous higher-value races are on the programme. The highlight is the Group 2 Joel Stakes (4th race/16.35pm/115,000 pounds/1609m).

Seven participants are competing to succeed Benbatl and Tempus (Hollie Doyle) from Archie Watson`s quarter has the best chances of making an entry in the winners` list. Three wins in a row speak in favour of the six-year-old, who celebrated his latest score in the Prix Quincey (Group 3) in Deauville. Pogo (Tom Marquand), who is showing here in the Criterion Stakes (Group 3), is hardly rated weaker. At home in the Mile is Mutasaabeq (Jim Crowley), who currently finished fourth in the Celebration Mile (Group 2). Potapova (Ryan Moore) is reserved a place in the Group of Favourites after her victory in the Atalanta Stakes (Group 3). Oscula (William Buick) sold very dear twice at Deauville and must be watched like El Drama (Andrea Atzeni), who ran strongly at Goodwood to Baaeed.
