Kick-off of The Cambridgeshire Meeting

Newmarket, Thursday 22 September: The three-day "The Cambridgeshire Meeting" starts today in Newmarket. Eight races are on the programme, including the Tattersalls Stakes (4th race/16.00pm/60,000 pounds/1400m) with four horses of the youngest active age group.

Holloway Boiy (Daniel Tudhope) goes into the race as favourite. Trained by Karl Burke, the colt sold very dear in the Vintage Stakes (Group 2) when a close second and on his seasonal debut he won at Ascot at Listed level. On the betting market, Nostrum (Ryan Moore) and Victory Dance (Willilam Buick) are almost tied. Running for Juddmonte colours, the Kingman son cut a strong figure in his winning career debut. The Godolphin hopeful recently won a Listed race in commanding fashion and prior to that he battled to victory in the Superlative Stakes (Group 2) here.

The List-class Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes (5th race/16.35pm/50,000 pounds/3218m) could be a haul for Thunderous (Ryan Moore), who is winless this year. Judging by his place of honour in the Yorkshire Stakes (Group 2) to Stradivarius, it should be enough against Island Brave (Ray Dawson), who won a high-money handicap 18 days ago. Nate The Great (William Buick) was better than Thunderous in the Coral Henry II Stakes (Group 3) and registers first chances, which also applies to Ranch Hand (William Carver).
