Cathedral City Event of the Year - Preis von Europa with great line-up

Cologne, Sunday, 25 September: The 60th edition is also a premiere, because the Preis von Europa (Group I, 155,000 Euros, 2,400 m) on Sunday, the highlight of the year in Cologne, has a new sponsor, the DZ Privatbank. One can look forward to a summit meeting of the top horses.

In the field of seven, Godolphin`s Rebel`s Romance (W. Buick) is of course a real drawing card as the triumphant winner of the Berlin Grand Prix. The same goes for Sammarco (B. Murzabayev), most recently third in the Baden Grand Prix, and Sisfahan (J. Mitchell) as the Derby winner in 2022 and 2021 respectively. For the latter it is his first start of the season, he was third here last year. Amazing Grace (O. Peslier) was second to Sammarco in the Dallmayr Prize, but went on to win the T v. Zastrow Mare Prize in Baden-Baden. The current Group III winner Alaskasonne (A. Starke), the Baden fourth placed Alter Adler (A. de Vries) and the Derby fourth placed Assistent (R. Piechulek) complete the field.

Between 2 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. on this top date, ten races will be run in Weidenpescher Park, with the Winter Queen Trial (Listed race, 22,500 Euros, 1,500 m) an important test run for two-year-old ladies for their most important race this year. Granada (B. Murzabayev) from the Fährhof Stud should be the first choice after her great debut. But Empathie (A. Starke) also signalled great potential. This also applies to Look At Me (M. Seidl), who also won in Iffezheim. Sirona (J. Mitchell) just landed a rewarding place of honour in her English home.

The Equalisation I over 2,200 metres also knows how to please. Here Henk Grewe is represented with Shut Down (B. Murzabayev) and North Hunter (L. Wolff) with double chances.

The four-race betting with guaranteed payouts of 15,000 Euros and 10,000 Euros respectively will be played out in the 4th race (Equalisation IV, 1,850 metres) and in the 9th race (Equalisation III, 1,600 metres).
