24 hours before the Derby: Hansa Prize in Hamburg

Hamburg, Saturday, July 02 - It is always a meeting of the Grand Prix horses in Hamburg - the Hansa Grand Prix (Group II, 70,000 Euros, 2,400 m) on Saturday at the Derby track forms the highlight on the penultimate day of the Derby week in Horn.

Many eyes are naturally on Torquator Tasso (R. Piechulek) in the six-strong lineup, as last year`s winner famously thrilled in the 2021 Arc triumph in Paris. His weaker performance at the first start of the season in Baden-Baden is certainly no benchmark.

There, Stable Nice`s Alter Adler (now with champion B. Murzabayev) won in impressive style against Virginia Storm (A. Fresu). The former has hardly already turned over all his cards and should be Torquator Tasso`s biggest competitor.

Best of Lips (M. Seidl) would only need to build on the form from the 2021 Union win. For Northern Ruler (E. Pedroza), only the long break bothers. For Nacido (A. de Vries) it looks tricky.

An impressive twelve races will be held between 10:50 and 16:40. Double pleasure is to be had in the four-horse bet. 10,000 euros are scheduled to be paid out in the 7th race (Equalizer III, 2,800 m) and in the 12th race (Equalizer IV, 1,800 m).
