Hippo Festival in Caen

Caen, Saturday, 14 May: Great sport is on offer today at the summer track in Caen. In addition to two Group 2 races for saddle trotters and a Group 3 race with four-year-old horses, the Prix Ducs de Normandie (3rd race/15.15/150,000 euros/2450 m) stands out.

Cleangame (Jean-Michel Bazire) returned to winning ways with a strong victory in the Grand National du Trot (Group 3) despite allowance and will be tested this time by Etonnant (Anthony Barrier) and Ampia Mede Sm (Franck Nivard). The latter defeated the Bazire charge in the Prix du Bois de Vincennes (Group 3), but had a ribbon advantage then. Gu d`Heripre (Jean-Philippe Monclin) and Rebella Matters (Christophe Martens) were pleasing behind in third and fifth. Etonnant found form again after a bit of a dry spell during the winter meeting. He took honours in the Grand Prix de Paris (Group 1) and the Prix de l`Atlantique (Group 1). He won the Grand Critérium de Vitesse (Group 1) against his constant opponent Vivid Wise As after a fight.
