Majestic Colt under new direction at Naas

Naas, Monday, April 25: Eight races are on the program today in Naas, Ireland. At the center of the action is the Woodlands Stakes (4th race/19.15pm/40,000 euros/1000m), a Listed test for three-year-olds and older horses.

The Jack Davison-trained Mooneista (Oisin Orr) won the fixture last year against Harry`s Bar, who ran at Meydan this year, and currently the four-year-old finished in excellent honors in the Cork Stakes (List race). Her most valuable victory came in last year`s Group 2 Sapphire Stakes. At the Curragh, Mooneista defeated Gustavus Weston (Gary Carroll), who followed a length and a half behind, and Romantic Proposal (Chris Hayes), who finished third. The latter later won the classic Flying Five Stakes against, among others, Gustavus Weston, who landed a bigpoint in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes (Group 3). Formerly trained by Andreas Wöhler, Majestic Colt (Joe Doyle) was sold at Tattersalls Auction and now competes for new colors. The Group and Listed winner contested his last race in the Golden Whip (Group 3) and narrowly missed winning. Geocentric (Colin Keane) is the youngest competitor in the field and should play a supporting role. The Kodiac daughter has never finished worse than third in her five-start career. Logo Hunter (Seamie Heffernan) last saw Mooniesta only from behind, this time the four-year-old is expected to run better.
