more Mullins stars out today

Willie Mullins is currently operating at an amazing strike rate as he pulls more and more top novices and maidens out of his hat and it looks as if this run will continue today at Thurles. He starts off with Un de Sceaux (Ruby Walsh) in the opening beginners chase at 13.20 CET. This ex-French performer is unbeaten in 9 starts and regarded as one of the stable´s top hopes for this season - he is in fact already favourite for the Arkle at Cheltenham..Despite the large field, he will be at an unbackable price today and although he is regarded as very headstrong it can be expected that he will win this easily on the way to better things.Mullins and Walsh can folloow up with Max Dynamite in the maiden hurdle at 14.25 - this one war running in Group One races on the flat in France last year and cost conndctions 200,000 euros- and another unbdeaten horse Clondaw Court at 15.00. The trainer might even complete a fourtimer with Kate Appleby Shoes, ridden by son Paddy, in the bumper at 16.40.
Mullins has also sent two runners over the Irish Sea to contest the listed hurdle race at 16.15 at Newbury - Wicklow Brave (Paul Townend) and Daneking (Danny Mullins); despite the misleading form figures we strongly prefer the former who has run some good races in top company. Of the two ex-French runners here we definitely prefer L´ami Serge (Nicky Henderson/ Barry Geraghty) at these weights, while Astre de la Cour (Robert Walford/ Paul Moloney) should also be noted. This is easily the best race at Britain´s 3 N.H. meetings today, as Newbury as well as the lower grade cards at Taunton and Uttoxeter are composed mainly of very small fields, which make little appeal for betting purposes, especially on this heavy ground. However we shall risk a small e.w. flutter on ex-German Ordensritter (CJ Down/ James Davies) in the handicap hurdle at 17.00 at Taunton. He was regarded as good enough to run in the 2011 German Derby (in which his full brother finished third this year!) but has not lived up to expectations; his hurdles form is very wobbly, to put it mildly, but he is on a very lenient mark and this is an extremely weak race.
