black type races at both British flat meetings today. At Newbury it is a 1 1/2 mile race for fillies and mares at 16.50 CET with in-form Luca Cumani saddling two runners, top-rated Khioni (Adam Kirby) and Silk Sari (Andrea Atzeni - 4 winners yesterday!). However we prefer the lightly-raced 3yo Wonderstruck (William Haggas/ William Buick) from another team in tremendous form; she can continue the good run oif Sea the Stars´ first crop 3yo´s.
Haggas also has a good chance in the listed 6 furlongs race at 16.05 at Chester with Ertijaal (Paul Mulrennan), but he is down in distance, not always a good idea at this sharp track. We prefer Dinkum Diamond (Henry Candy/ Ben Curtis) who has a penalty but is running over his ideal distance.
The week-long Galway Festival ends today with some huge fields. The first 4 races are over jumps, the last 3 on the flat. Tony Martin is in good form and in theory his smart hurdler Ted Veale (Barry Geraghty) should take the beginners chase at 16.20; but he appears not to like the larger obstacles and we would rather leave this race alone. Dermot Weld has had another good week, although perhaps not quite as dominant as in some previous years, but he can go out with a winner when Windsor Park (Robbie McNamara) runs in the final bumper at 19.00.
