Royal Ascot: rest of day two

the card opens with the Jersey Stakes for 3yo´s over 7 furlongs at 15.30 CET and this looks very tricky with a huge field of 23 runners. Plenty of them have good group race form and our selection is Mustajeeb (Dermot Weld/ Pat Smullen) to give the Irish their third success of the meeting. He was third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and this distance will probably suit him better; the biggest danger could be the same owner´s Muwaary (John Gosden/ Paul Hanagan), fourth in the French equivalent.
The Queen Mary Stakes over 5 furlongs at 16.05 is the best race of the season so far for 2yo fillies and we have another huge field. 12 of the 22 runners are last-time-out winners, but anyone who saw Hootenanny win the last race yesterday will want to be with the U.S. filly Spanish Pipedream (Wesley Ward/ Victor Espinoza), whose trainer does so well with his 2yo´s in Europe.
The Duke of Cambridge Stakes at 17.25 is also for fillies - this time older ones over a mile, and this is another tricky race. We shall take a chance on another Irish runner Fiesolana (Willie McCreery/ Billy Lee), but French raider Esoterique (André Fabre/ Maxime Guyon) is a big danger, while Sky Lantern (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) and Integral (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) look the best of the home side.
The card ends with two wide open handicaps with huge fields, where almost anything is possible. Abseil (Stoute/ James Doyle) is clear favourite for the Royal Hunt Cup at 18.00, but there is little value at the likely price, and we shall go for last year´s winner Belgian Bill (George Baker/ Pat Cosgrave), while there could be another Yorkshire winner at 18.35, courtesy of Dutch Courage (Richard Fahey/ Graham Lee).
