3 jumps meetings today

As the Irish meeting at Navan has been abandoned because of waterlogging, we are left with just 3 low-level jumps meetings in the U.K. today. Paul Nicholls is usually the trainer to follow at Wincanton, his local track, and we expect his 3 runners, Sound Investment at 15.40, Elenika half an hour later, and Sidney Melbourne at 17.10, all partnered by Daryl Jacob, to run well. However our best bet here is Lower Hope Dandy (Venetia Williams/ Aidan Coleman), who won with the greatest of ease at Cheltenham on Wednesday and should be able to defy a 7 lbs penalty at 16.40.

Nicholls can also be on the scoresheet at Stratford, where Landscape (by Lando) (Harry Derham) can take the opening novice hurdle at 15.00; Darley Son (John Ferguson/ Denis O´Regan) looks the only serious threat here. An ex-German runner who could run well at a big price is Electric Tiger (David Bridgewater/ Tom Phelan) in the novice handicap hurdle at 17.30; closely ralated to Elle Danzig and other good performers, he is nowhere near that class but does not need to be in this very modest event.

Another German-bred that might be worth a small investment is Full Speed (Philip Kirby/ Richie McGrath) at 17.20 at Newcastle. He is very lightly raced over hurdles, but has twice on the flat this year. They were poor races, but so is this. A horse from the same stable with a similar profile is Platinum (Harriet Bethell) half an hour earlier, who has not run over hurdles for 17 months, but was only beaten a short head in a flat handicap at Catterick 11 days ago.
