the other two U.K. jumps meetings, at Ayr and Chepstow, are much less interesting than Sandown -not to mention Cheltenham- and consist mainly of lower level handicaps.
However two German-breds we hope run well are Los Nadis (Jim Goldie/ Callum Whillans) in the 17.00 CET at Ayr - Irish raider Shariyan (Colm Murphy/ Robbie Power) is the clear favourite here, but has shot up the weights after his winter double at Leopardstown- and Oldrik (Philip Hobbs/ Michael Nolan) at 16.40 at Chepstow, who has been well below form this season, but has not dropped to a lenient rating and meets feeble opposition here.
Of greater significance is Wolverhampton, which stages its most valuable card of the year. The opening listed race over 7 furlongs at 15.20 looks quite tricky, as we are not convinced by the likely favourite Kenny Powers (Tom Dascombe/ Hayley Turner); he ran some good races in better company at Meydan, but only came back this week and we feel that the climate change could come as a bit of a shock. The improving 4yo Solar Deity (Marco Botti/ Martin Harley) has an obvious chance, but oldtimer Regal Parade (Milton Bradley/ Graham Lee) would be a certainty on his old form, so we shall take a chance on his being fit enough after his break. The valuable Lincoln Tral handicap at 15.55 features several horses that ran last year, including the winner Nazreef (Hughie Morrison/ Joe Fanning) and close third Mia´s Boy (Chris Dwyer/ George Baker). The latter is a tricky ride, as he has to come very late, but he is handicapped to win this.The 6 furlongs handicap at 17.05 is another tricky o ne; we are not convinced by the top weights and choose Al´s Memory (David Evans/ Richard Hughes), who runs almost every week and is moving up in grade here, but keeps his form well.
