3 jumps meetings today

3 jumps meetings today, but with Cheltenham starting on Tuesday, there is obviously not much racing at the top level. However the Irish meeting at Naas has a couple of decent events on the card. Main feature here is the Leinster National, a handicap chase over 3 miles at 17.40 CET with 18 runners. Three of them still have hopes of running in the Grand National itself (now only 4 weeks away)- the 2 topweights Rare Bob and Oscar Time- second at Aintree in 2011- and today´s likely favourite Tarquinius (Gordon Elliott/ Davy Condon), while Paddy Pub (Keith Purcell/ PF Mangan) won this last year. Top owner JP McManus has 3 runners in the field, and as it is his 62nd birthday, we are hoping one of them wins- probably Fever Pitch (Arthur Moore/ David Casey), who fell last week when strongly fancied at Leopardstown.
The British meetings at Market Rasen and Warwick are less exciting, but two horses we have been following all season without much success reappear today - Dawn Twister (Lucy Wadham/ Leighton Aspell) at 16.50 at the former meeting and Mon Mome (Venetia Williams/ Liam Treadwell) ten minutes later at the latter, and we shall give them both another chance. Dawn Twister was hampered when third last time at Doncaster and can make up for that mishap this time, while Mon Mome has not won since his sensational victory in 2009 Grand National, but is now on a very handy weight indeed.
