3 more poor meetings today

Nothing to get excited about today with low level N.H. racing at Leicester and Chepstow and even lower level flat racing at Wolverhampton (for the fifth successive day!). John Ferguson has his string of ex-flat horses in excellent form over jumps and can land a double at Leicester with Pine Creek and Whispering Gallery in the two divisions of the novice hurdle at 13.30 CET and 15.40 respectively.

Both were useful on the flat, in particular the latter who won the DRC Gold Cup in March 2011, but has not been seen out since. They will both be partnered by Denis O´Regan, who has struck up a highly successful partnership with Ferguson, who is better known as Sheikh Mohammed´s bloodstock adviser. German-bred Lovcen (Alan King/ Robert Thornton) must have a good chance of taking the novice chase here at 15.10. he should certainly hold the other German-bred Wiesensturm - even though this one won his first chase- but Minellas Class (Nicky Henderson/ David Bass) could be more dangerous; bioh he and Lovcen were Grade One novice hurdle winners last season and on hurdling form stand out here by miles.

There are also two German-breds in the 3 mile handicap hurdle at 14.55 at Chepstow, Air Force One (Charlie Mann/ Gavin Sheehan) and Electric Tiger (David Bridgewater/ Tom Phelan). The latter is moving up in trip, while the former- who has been mainly chasing, often in top events- has come down a lot in the weights, and both of them could run well in a very open race. A trainer in red-hot form at present is David O´Meara, who has had 9 winners from 12 runners so far this year. He can further improve this already amazing record at Wolverhampton, where both his runners Frontier Fighter (Danny Tudhope) in the maiden at 17.25 and Rosies Lady (David Bergin) in the 8 1/2 furlongs handicap at 18.25. The latter, a 4yo filly, seems tremendously improved and has already won twice this year, including here yesterday, and she should be able to defy a 12 lbs penalty if she turns out again.
