Huntingdon doubtful

Today´s meeting at Huntingdon, their biggest fixture of the year, looks doubtful after overnight frost. The meeting had already been postponed from Thursday because of the bad weather, but yesterday oficials seemed hopeful that it would go ahead this afternoon. However the return of the cold weather may have scuppered plans. Early morning inspection showed that there was still frost in the ground and another inspection will be held at 11.

Should racing go ahead, the main feature is the Grade Two Peterborough Chase at 15.05. This has attracted a strong field over the intermediate distance of 2 1/2 miles, including Twist Magic (Paul Nicholls/ Noel Fehily) and Tartak (Tom George/ Paddy Brennan), both non-runners in yesterday´s Tingle Creek at Cheltenham. The German-bred Twist Magic is the class act in the field and is top-rated, but there must be a doubt about his getting this trip, as his best distance is 2 miles, so we prefer Tartak, for whom conditions are ideal. However there is plenty more opposition, including Deep Purple (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney), who won this last year, and another previous winner Racing Demon (Henrietta Knight/ Hadden Frost), while Riverside Theatre (Nicky Henderson/ Barry Geraghty) is another legitimate contender.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Just The Job - Mannlichen - Najca De Thaix
2. Race: Sway - Topsham Belle - Bathwick Quest
3. Race: Beau Fighter - Kings Troop - Call It On
4. Race: Twist Magic - Riverside Theatre - Kalahari King
5. Race: Skint - Court By Surprise - Muldoon`S Picnic
6. Race: Bardolet - Aztec Treasure - Dunkelly Castle
7. Race: Journeyman - Bowntobebad - Dream Function
