All-weather racing at Southwell and Wolverhampton

More of the same dreary sport at Southwell this afternoon and Wolverhampton this evening, but we would not be surprised to see trainer Michael Bell and jockey Hayley Turner team up to win maiden races at both courses - with Juicy Pear at 16.25 CET and Dr. Finley at 19.30; both have shown consistent form at this level and look likely to score before long in this lowly company. Otherwis the best race at Southwell, is the 6 furlongs handicap at 16.55.

Top-weight Frognall (Ruh Carr/ Andrew Elliott) was third in a much stronger race at Newmarket last time, but that was in October. On recent form last-time-out winners Jack Rackham and Hits only Jude can be preferred.

Easily the best race on the all-weather today is the 9 1/2 furlongs handicap at 19.00 at Wolverhampton. here again the top-weight and classiest runner, Tartan Gunna (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning) is coming off long break; his last race was at Ascot in October, but with the stable still going great guns, he can still win here. Baylini, Orchard Supreme and Stand Guard are next best in an open race.
