All-weather racing at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

More low-level racing at today´s two all-weather meetings, and all 8 races at Lingfield are class 5 or 6. Horses in this grade are not usually the most reliable, but an exception is Party in the Park (James Boyle/ Matthew Davies) in the mile handicap at 13.30 CET. He has been runner-up 6 times in his last 7 races and must surely get his head in front sometime, possibly today.

Another that has finished second a lot is Shaded Edge (David Arbuthnot / Hayley Turner) in the 7 furlongs handicap here at 15.00. He was just touched off last time by course specialist Rubensstar (Pat Morris/ Steven Craine) and meets that one on better terms now; Divine Force (Michael Wigham/ Simon Whitworth), who is going for a January hat-trick, is the obvious danger.

At Wolverhamptons twilight meeting, the main event is a conditions race over 9 1/2 furlongs at 18.35. The very consistent Aeroplane (David Evans/ Jamie Spencer) has also finished runner-up 3 times already this year, but preference is for Blue Bajan (Andrew Turnell/ Paul Hanagan). He is best known as a hurdler, but is also useful on the flat and is officially best in at the weights. German-bred Carmenero (Conor Dore/ Liam Keniry) finally came back to form with an easy CD win last week and a 6 lbs penalty may not stop him following up in the 7 furlongs handicap at 20.05. We also expect the all-conquering stable of Mark Johnston to land a double here with Duellist in the maiden at 19.05 and Capricornus in the 3yo handicap half an hour later, with Joe Fanning in the saddle of both.
