Carlisle (N.H.), Huntingdon (N.H.) and Lingfield (a.w.)

The most interesting race in the U.K. today is the intermediate chase at 15.05 CET at Carlisle, where the field includes several useful performers. Killyglen (Jonjo O´Neill/ Tony McCoy) and Chief Dan George (Jimmy Moffatt/ Paddy Aspell) have not run since the Grand National meeting in April and would both probably prefer a trip longer than the 2 1/2 miles of today´s race, but can still dominate here. O´Neill also has good prospects of taking the handicap chase over 3 1/4 miles at 16.15. where he has 2 runners, Rate of Knots (McCoy) and Teeming Rain (Robbie McLernon).The latter´s name could be appropriate, as the forecast is for heavy rain in many parts of the country and punters are adevised to check whether the going has been changed. At Huntingdon, Mission Control (Tim Vaughan/ Dean Coleman) has easily the best form in the novice hurdle at 15.20, but he has to give away lumps of weight and German-bred Sadlers Star (Alan King/ Choc Thornton) is preferred. Another German-bred with chances here is Daring Racer (Tim Vaughan/ Richard Johnson), who looks a solid each-way bet in the handicap hurdle at 17.00. Main interest in a modest all-weather card at Lingfield is the struggle for the apprentices´ championship betwen Freddie Tylicki (currently on 67 winners) and David Probert (64) Probert has 2 good chances for trainer Ron Harris with Red Current at 14.55 and Titus Gent at 16.40, while Tylicki can counter with David Brown´s Go Go Green at 16.05. Freddie´s mount Ger Butler´s New Innocence could also run well in the 2yo maiden at 14.20, but, given the way the Godolphin 2yo´s are performing this week, debutant Sowaylm (Ted Durcan) must be the selection.
