Newmarket and Dundalk today

Newmarket´s Cambridgeshire meeting continues today with two Group One races for 2yo´s the highlights. Th Cheveley Park Stakes for fillies at 15.30 CET and the Middle Park for colts at 16.05 are both run over 6 furlongs and are always two of the best juvenile races of the season. Aölthough there are nly 5 runners, th Middle Park looks a very strong renewal; Showcasing (John Gosden/ Jimmy Fortune) and Poet s Voice (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori) are possibly the two likeliest candidates. The fillies ace ha a larger field and could go to France via Special Duty (Criquette Head-Maarek/ Stephane Pasquier), only narrowly beaten in the Morny last time. Lady of the Desert (Brian Meehan/ Martin Dwyer) and Godolphin´ s Sand Vixen (Dettori) look best of the locals.

The Irish all-weather track at Dundalk stages its first group race this evening, the Diamond Stakes at 21.30. Conditions have been specially framed in order to attract potential Breeders Cup runners, and this tactic has been successful, as Aidan O´Brien has entered 3 runners, including Mastercraftsman (Johnny Murtagh), who will run at Santa Anita if all goes well this evening.
