Rest of UK and Ireland

There is also flat racing this afternoon at Ayr and Goodwood and this evening on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, as well as an Irish N.H. meeting at Sligo. Best race at Ayr is the handicap over 1 mile 5 furlongs at 17.05 CET. Amanda Carter (Richard Fahey/ Paul Hanagan) was an easy CD winner last time out, while Dazzling Light (Jim Goldie/ Daniel Tudhope) ran well at Chester last time, but the one to beat is consistent top-weight Wells Lyrical (Brian Smart/ Tom Eaves). At Goodwood, the 1 1/2 mile handicap for fillies at 16.55 looks a really hot race and any of the 7 runners could win; Acquisition (Henry Cecil/ Eddie Ahern) has won her last 4 races, while Qelaan (Marcus Tregonning/ Tagdh O´Shea) is going for a hat-trick, and bottom-weight Sweet Hollow (Clive Cox/ Adam Kirby) also looks dangerous. Tregonning also has chances in the following 3yo handocap at 17.30 with Tahkeem (Dane O´Neill). Some of the top jockyes riding this afternoon at Newmarket make their way to the eveni ng meeting at Wolverhampton where Jamie Spencer and Kieren Fallon can win the two class 4 handicaps on Lochan Mor at 20.45 and Ordoney half an hour later. In Ireland, there are the usual large fields at Sligo. It could be significant that Dermot Weld has booked Ruby Walsh for Majestic Concorde in the 2 1/2 mile chase at 17.35, while Capall Eile (Paul Gilligan/ Andrew Lynich), who fell early when favourite last week at Fontwell, can recover those losses in the beginners chase at 18.05.
