Rest of Glorious Goodwood (final day)

The big betting race at Goodwood is the Stewards Cup over 6 furlongs at 16.40 CET with 28 runners. This is always one of the toughest handicaps of the year , but David Nicholls is usually the trainer to follow and he has 6 runners engaged, just to make it even more difficult. His stable jockey, son Adrian, has chosen Sonny Red which is a tip in itself. He is drawn 26 and it appears that in this race, and in 6 furlongs races generally here, the high numbers are at a distinct advantage. Al,so drawn high are Tamagin (Jeff Parce/ Seb Sander, drawn 20), Buachaill Dona (Nicholls/ Jimmy Quinn, 24) Global City (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori, 25) and Striking Spirit (Nicholls/ Ahmed Ajtebi, 25). Half of the field ran in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot, but the form of that race is not certain to be confirmed, and those that ran well at Ascot are mainly badly drawn here. With the Godolphin team now in top form, their runners in the opening listed race for 3yo´s over a mile, Don avitum (Dettori) and Ashram (Ajtebi) must be respected, although Gallagher (Brian Meehan/ Martin Dwyer) also has good prospects.
