Rest of Britain and Ireland today

There is plenty more racing outside Goodwood, and the Galway Festival in Ireland now enters its sixth day with another competitive card. Most valuable event is the 2 3/4 mile handicap hurdle at 16.30 CET with a maximum field; Media Queen (Donal Hassett/ Paddy Flood) has won 4 of her last 5 races and is clearly one to fear, but Sonnium (Willie Mullins/ Ruby Walsh) also looks dangerous. German-bred Isabellareine (Mervyn Torrens/ Keagan Latham) ran well here the other day and has a chance in the 2 mile handicap at 17.30. The week has not gone as well for Dermot Weld as might have been expected, but he has several chances today, notably Gratified (Ruby Walsh) in the opening maiden hurdle at 15.25 and Waajida (Pat Smullen) in a 2yo maiden at 18.00. The bst race at Doncaster is the conditions race over 6 furlongs at 16.15, which has attracted a strong field. War Artist (James Eustace/ Shane Kelly), who is being aimed at the Goldene Peitsche, should win this, but he is another one w ho would not like any more rain. Most of the top jockeys are obviously in Goodwood, but Richard Hills is in action at Newmarket, where he has fancied rides in 5 races, while other jockeys to note today are Freddie Tylicki, who rides at both Thirsk in the afternoon and Hamilton this evening, and Richard Hughes, who travels on from Goodwood to the Lingfield all-weather meeting in the evening.
