German runners in France today

it has been a very good week for German raiders in France and this run of success could continue today at Clairefontaine, where there are 5 flat races followed by 3 over jumps. Werner Baltromi saddles Tiger Village in a race for 3yo colts over 2400 metres at 14.25 and Solitary in the fillies equivalent an hour later, both to be partnered by Dominique Boeuf. In the mile claimer for older horses at 15.55 there are 4 German-trained runners - Wise Man (Baltromei/ Gaetan Masure), Doranda (Michael Trybuhl/ William Mongil), Festspiel (Erika Mäder/ Johan Victoire) and Herbstgold (Robin Schoof/ Gregory Benoist). If Wise Man were in the form he showed at Cagnes in early 2008 he would be a near-certainty here, but he has had problems since and is probably best treated with caution. Under the circumstances, we take his stable companion Tiger Village to be our best German thing of the day.
