German runners at Deauville

a big weekend at Deauville and an important one for German owners, with several runners in the main events. Today´s main feature is the Prix de Pomone for fillies and mares over 2500 metres at 15.35, in which Gestüt Röttgen´s Umirage (Hans Blume/ Johan Victoire) is only an outsider based on recent form. The two to beat are the Aga Khan´s Shemima (Alain de Royer-Dupré/ Christophe Soumillon) and the only 3yo in the field Quetsche (Jean-Claude Rouget/ Christophe Lemaire), who is out of German classic winner Que Belle. The chances of a German victory are much better in the following race, the Group Three Prix Gontaut-Biron for 4yo´s and up over 2000 metres, in which there are 4 German runners. Gestüt Park Wiedingen´s Precious Boy (Waldemar Hickst/ Andreas Suborics) is clearly the best of them and must have good prospects in this company after his excellent second place at Munich. The other 3 German runners, Adelar (Werner Baltromei/ Olivier Peslier), Integral (Ralf Rohne/ Ioritz Mendizibal) and Inter Mondo (MarionWeber/ René Piecheluk) are all well held by Previous Boy on German form. However there are plenty of dangers, including the two British runners Blue Monday (Roger Charlton/ Soumillon) and Unnefer (Henry Cecil/ Lemaire), while the best of the local hopes are Loup Breton (Elie Lellouche/ Antony Crastus) and The Bogberry (Royer-Dupré/ Gerald Mossé).
