Bath, Pontefract and Southwell

listed races for fillies always attract decent fields, and the 6 furlongs raceat Pontefract at 16.40 CET is no exception with 14 fillies declared. Best on ratings is the 3yo Swiss Diva (David Elsworth/ Micky Fenton), while Red Dune (Michael Jarvis/ Joe Fanning) looks best of the older runners. Henry Cecil´s Bouvardia (Tom Qually) has won her last two races and is coming off a 3 months break as well as moving up in class, but still looks a big danger. Bath also stages a fillies listed race, this time over a mile at 17.30. Here we have a rare German runner, Mario Hofer´s Whispered Dreams ( Ted Durcan), who has run well in defeat at Hamburg and Munich on her last two outings. However it looks tough here, with Golden Stream (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) and Balaagha (Michael Jarvis/ Tadgh O´Shea) the two to beat. Lady Deauville (Roger Curtis/ Darryll Holland) won this last year but is out of form at present and needs much softer ground. There is also NH racing at Southwell, w here Charlie Mann and Noel Fehily can land a double on German-breds Cortinas in the novice chase at 15.50 and Vacario in the novice hurdle an hour later.
