Irish racing today

an excellent card this afternoon at the Curragh is headed by the Group Two Royal Whip over 10 furlongs at 15.45 CET. Casual Conquest (Dermot Weld/ Pat Smullen) was beaten at odds-on last time but can get back on the winning trail here, at the main expense of Curtain Call (Luca Cumani/ Fran Berry). Weld and Smullen can double up in the Desmond Stakes (Group Three) over a mile at 17.45 with Famous Name. The third group race is the Phoenix Sprint over 6 furlongs at 17.15, which looks quite open. Benbaun (Kevin Ryan/ Smullen) runs his best races here, but 5 furlongs is his trip and over this distance we fancy Snaefell (Mike Halford/ Keagan Latham) can get the better of him, while the 3yo Vocalised (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning) looks a major threat. There is also NH racing at Tramore with maximum fields in most races. As usual, Ruby Walsh looks the jockey to follow and he can land a double wth Collingford for his father Ted at 15.35 and Norwich Boy for Willie Mullins at 17.05.
