Ripon, Windsor and Roscommon (Ireland) this evening

Best race this evening is the listed event over 1 1/2 miles at 19.40 CET at Roscommon, whre there are only 6 runners. With the Oxx/ Kinane team in seemingly unstoppable form, the Aga Khan´ s Alaivam is the obvious choice here, although Aidan O´Briens´s improving Von Jawlensky (Seamus Heffernan) and Jim Bolger´s Via Galileo (Kevin Manning) must also be respected. While there are also 3 hurdles races on the Roscommon card, all the racing in the U.K. today is on the flat. There are 2 very competitive handicaps at Windsor, over 5 furlongs at 20.30 and over double that distance half an hour later. The 2 3yo´s Captain Carey (Malcolm Saunders/ Tom McLaughlin) and Olynard (Ralph Beckett/ Seb Sanders) have good chances in the former event, but we shall stick with Lochstar (Andrew Balding/ Liam Keniry) despite a disappointing performance recently. In the latter event lightly-raced State Banquet (Hughie Morrison/ Darryll Holland) can get the better of several last-time-out winners. At R ipon the main event is a 6 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 21.20, which also looks very tricky, but with Karl Burke in such great form (the first group one winner of his career yesterday) his bottom-weight Ursula (Andrew Elliott) can score.
