Ayr, Fontwell (N.H.) and Nottingham

3 British meetings this afternoon, but no fireworks to be expected. Nottingham´s main feature is the class 2 conditions stakes over a mile at 17.10 CET. There are 6 runners, with Godolphin holding a strong hand, as their 2 entries Emmrooz (Frankie Dettori) and Royal God (Ahmed Ajtebi) being the top-rated runners. The former, a good second to Bankable in Nad al Sheba in February after a long lay-off, is the selection; Khateeb (Michael Jarvis/ Richard Hills) and Dubai Touch (Mark Johnston/ Royston Ffrench) are the dangers. Also at Nottingham, Taste the Wine (Stan Moore/ Luke Morris), who stayed on strongly when winning over 1 1/2 mils at Chepstow last time, can win the 1 3/4 miles handicap for 3yo´s at 16.40. At Ayr, the 5 furlongs handicap at 16.50 is the best race, but few of the 7 runners have any good recent form to recommend them. The exception is Discanti (Tim Easterby/ David Allan), a close third last week at Redcar, and this form may be good enough.

A typical summer jumps card at Fontwell, where the most interesting event is the novice hurdle over 2 1/4 miles at 16.00. Master of Arms (David Loughnane/ Richard Johnson) and Tri Nations (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily) are both easy recent winners, but may struggle to give weight to Black Jacari (Alan King/ Robert Thornton), coming back from a break after some disappointing performances in the winter, and Duty Free (Charlie Egerton/ Tony McCoy), third on his hurdles debut, but Dichoh (Michael Madgwick/ Dave Crosse), making his debut over the sticks, could be the joker in the pack.
