Folkestone, Listowel (Ireland) and Sedgfield (N.H.) this evening

Top-weight Purus (Richard Teal/ Luke Morris), an unlucky runner-up after being hampered at Newmarket last time, is the obvious form choice for the 7 furlongs handicap at 20.50 this evening at Folkestone, but lightly-raced Monadeema (William Haggas/ Richard Hills), who has not run for a year, is a big danger if anywhere near peak fitness. There is a similar scenario half an hour later in the 1 1/2 mile handicap, where Luca Cumani´s Hada Men (William Buick), last seen in October, faces form-horse Gaia Prince (Amanda Perrett/ Jim Crowley) and fit-from
-hurdling Yossi (Jim Best/ Jimmy Quinn). There is a strong Irish challenge at this evening´s N.H. meeting at Sedgefield, and Kells Castle (Gordon Elliott/ Jason Maguire) can win the long-distance chase at 21.35. Hottest favourite here will be German-bred Nordwind (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney) in the novice hurdle at 20.35; the son of Acatenango is in top form and despite giving weight away all round, should not be troubled to record his 4th win in his last 5 outings. In Ireland, there is a mixed meeting (3 flat races, 3 over hurdles and a bumper) at Listowel. The 3yo mile maiden at 19.00 should lie between the Aga Khan s Karkari (John Oxx/ Fran Berry) and Benji´s Babes (Tommy Stack/ Wayne Lordan), both runners-up in large fields last time. Alpine Glade (John Joseph Mangan/ Paul Carberry), third on the flat on Saturday, can take the mares hurdle race at 21.00.
