Yorkshire Cup today´s main feature

Today is the third and final day of York´s May meeting and the main feature is the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup over 1 3/4 miles at 15.40 CET. Although it is shorter than the other cup races to come, stamina is still a requirement and this is a question mark over the likely favourite Ask (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore), who races mainly at 10-12 furlongs. However his sixth place in the "Arc" maks him the clear form choice.

Geordieland (Jamie Osborne/ Shane Kelly) won this last year and was runner-up in the Ascot Gold Cup and is the obvious danger, but he is unpredictable and the improving Fiulin (Marco Botti/ John Egan) could be next best. There are also 2 listed races for fillies on the card - for 2yo´s at 14.40 and for 3yo´s over a mile at 16.10. This latter event has 2 runners who finished down the field in the 1,000 Guineas, Nashmiah (Clive Brittain/ Ryan Moore) -9th - and Seradim (Paul Cole/ Jimmy Fortune) -12th -and preference is for Godolphin´s Moonlif (Frankie Dettori), who looked smart last season. Brittain´s best chance is probably in the 2yo race with Misheer (Neil Callan), who created a very positive impression when winning first time out at Yarmouth.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Misheer - Leleyf - Eternal Instinct
2. Race: Warringah - Redesignation - Robby Bobby
3. Race: Ask - Veracity - Fiulin
4. Race: Moonlife - Nashmiah - Seradim
