Catterick (evening), Chepstow and Southwell (a.w.)

Only very moderate racing at today´s 3 flat meetings, but it could be significant that trainer Andrew Balding, currently in top form, sends just one runner to the all all-weather track at Southwell - Lady Brora (William Buick), who goes for the fillies handicap over a mile at 16.30 CET. Bookiebasherbabe (Mick Quinn/ Franny Norton), a CD winner last time, is the danger, but Lady Brora gets our vote.

Balding also sends 2 runners to Chepstow, and both Western Roots in the 10 furlongs claimer at 15.10 and Motor Home in the 3yo mile handicap at 17.10, both partnered by David Probert, should also figure prominently. There are some larg fields this evening at Catterick, and the 7 furlongs handicap at 20.05 looks very open. 9yo Hiccups (Michael Dods/ Phillip Makin) is not very consistent these days, but is a CD specialist and could run well. Two German-breeds have winning chances on the undercard - Raucous (Ruth Carr/ Andrew Elliott) can win his 3rd win from 4 starts in the claimer at 19.35, while Tusculum (Barney Curley/ Tom Queally) was once a German Derby hope for Gestüt Schlenderhan and contests the 2 mile handicap at 20.35 off a ludicrously low mark.
