Rest of Dubai

The Godolphin stable has had a miserable time here the last two years, failing to win a single race on World Cup Day, but it should certainly be different this time around, and it is quite possible that Saeed bin Suroor will saddle the first three winners this afternoon. In the Godolphin Mile on dirt at 14.40 CET, his two candidates Two Step Salsa (Frankie Dettori) and Gayego (Ted Durcan), both easy winners last time out, could well take the first two places, while the stable has 3 runners in the UAE Derby at 15.15, also on dirt, of whom Desert Party (Dettori) is likely to be the hottest favourite of the day after his easy 2000 Guineas win here. The Golden Shaheen over 6 furlongs at 15.55 is more open, but Diabolical (bin Suroor/ Dettori) is definitely one for the short list, together with the American Indian Blessing (Bob Baffert/ Edgar Prado), while Marchard d´Or (Freddie Head/ Davy Bonilla), the top European sprinter in 2008, also comes into the reckoning if he can handle the dirt track.
