Kempton abandoned, also big weekend meetings off

today´s N.H. fixture at Kempton has been abandoned, but there is still jumps racing at Fontwell and Bangor, where AP McCoy has good chances of finally riding his 3000th winner. However the really bad news is that the two most important weekend meetings have already been abandoned - Newbury on Saturday (featuring Denman in the Aon Chase, Master Minded in the Game Spirit and the valuable Tote Trophy) and Leopardstown on Sunday with 3 Grade One races. Efforts are being made to save the top two Newbury races as well as the whole Leopardstown card but it is still a major loss to the winter season. The meetings at Warwick on Saturday and Exeter and Hereford on Sunday have also been abandoned, and with the bad weather continuing, there are likely to be further cancellations in the next few days. Wolverhampton´s evening meeting today is also in doubt and subject to an inspection later.
