Baltromei tries again at Cagnes-sur-mer

Today is the penultimate fixture of the Cagnes-sur-mer meeting, and German trainer Werner Baltromei, for whom the meeting has certainly not gone to plan, tries again to improve his rather meagre balance - 3 wins so far, compared to 11 last year. He runs the promising Escargot in the 3yo maiden over 2000 metres at 14.50 and Alpe d´Huez in a 1300 metres handiap at 16.50, with with Dominique Boeuf in the saddle. Escargot should certainly finish in the money- there are several small fields at Cagnes today, and this race ha only 6 runners- but may find thr Aga Khan s Nizamabad (Jean-Claude Rouget/ Ioritz Mendizibal) too strong. Alpe d´Huez was a bit disappointing last time, but has a chance on his earlier running; however this is a very open race with 16 runners.
