Plumpton off, Fakenham on

Today´s N.H. meeting at Plumpton has been abandoned, but Fakenham´s fixture has been given the green light after an early morning inspection. It will be the first jumps meeting in England for 10 days. Star of the show is undoubtedly Carruthers, owned and bred by Lord Oaksey and trained by his son-in-law Mark Bradstock. With Mattie Batchelor in the saddle, he only needs to jump round safely to take the 3 mile beginners chase at 14.50 CET. A couple of German-breds also have prospects, Vacario (by Acatenango) (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily) can take the novice hurdle at 15.20 and Pretty Star (by Lando) (Venetia Williams/ Sam Thomas) the handicap chase at 16.50, while the Protektor gelding Dark Moon (Mick Easterby/ Oliver Greenall) has each-way chances in the opening maiden hurdle at 14.20. Thee is also flar racing from Wolverhampton´s all-weather track. Jamie Spencer, who rode 3 winners yesterday at Great Leighs, has a good book of rides and should be among the winners again.
