Cagnes opens doors to winter season

The winter flat race meeting at Cagnes-sur-mer begins today, and has 19 racedays scheduled up to February 21st. Mülheim trainer Werner Baltromei was etremely successful at this meetimng last year and once again launches a stromg attack, although some of his runners will be stabled at Marseille with Sid-Ali Ghoumrassi and will run under his name. They hae runners in 3 races today; in the 2000 metres race for 3yo maiden fillies at 13.30 Baltromei runs Australian Airline with Dominique Boeuf in the saddle, while in the colts´ equivalent race at 14.05 he has entered Marito, also with Boeuf, and Amuse Gueule (Ghoumrassi/ Koen Clymans). In the 8th and last race on the card, a handicap over 2400 metres at 16.35, the duo are represented by Delano (Baltromei/ Boeuf) and White Bull (Ghoumrassi/ Clymans). As the local horses may have a fitness advantage, maximum confidence in the German runners would probably be misplaced, but Delano certainly seems due for a win after his recent perfor mances.
