N.H. racing at Ayr

The first jumps racing in the U.K. for lomore tha a week takes place today at thecScottish track of Ayr and there are some good fields with competitive racing. Trainer Peter Monteith always does well here and he can take the first division of the novice hurdle at 13.50 CET with Signalman (Rhys Flint), who has Prince de Beauchene (Howatrd Johnson/ Denis O´Regan) to beat. He also has a chance in the second division at 14.25 with German-bred Solis (Keith renwick), a faller last time. Companero (Howard Johnson/ Denis O´Regan) has won his last 4 races and stands out in the novice chase at 15.00, even though his jumping needs to improve. It is certainly significant that Tony McCoy rides here, and he partners Money Order for Brendan Powell in the class 2 handicap hurdle at 15.30; this one looked pronising two years ago, but has been off the track for a long time, while McCoy also rides Powell´s Princess Flame in the handicap hurdle at 16.30; she was an easy winer at Leicester last time and is one of 4 German-breds in the field. The others - top-weight Los Nadis (Monteith/ Flint), Manhattan Boy (A and G Crow) and Tiger King (Monteith/ Renwick) are also not out of it in an open race. The best race on the card is the class 2 handicap chase over 3 miles 1 furlong at 16.00 with 9 runners. German-bred First Look may not be suited by the heavy ground, and consistent Malko de Beaumont /AD Brown/ Mark Bradburne) seems the safest option.
