all-weather racing at Lingfield and Kempton

Today´s meeting at Kempton was originally a jumps fixture, but has been switched to the flat because of the frozen ground. There could also be a problem with fog at both these meetings, as visibility remains very poor. Best race on the flat is the class 2 handicap over 10 furlongs at 16.20 CET at Lingfield with 8 runners. Philatelist (Michael Jarvis/ Shane Kelly), despite top-weight, could be the favourite here after running well in better company, but Sgt. Schultz (Stan Moore/ Luke Morris) looks a big danger after his easy last-time-out win at Great Leighs. From the German point of view, Aviso (Andrew Stringer/ Tom Queally) is the most interesting runner. We should not forget that he was a German classic winner less than 2 years ago. However all Barney Curley´s runners have been running badly, and this one was tailed off last time. The 6 furlongs conditions race at 15.50 is also interesting. Aeroplane (Simon Callaghan/ Hayley Turner) is in great form and beat Bonus (Ger Butl er/ Eddie Ahern) over 7 furlongs at Kempton on Wednesday. However a pull of 4 lbs, and a more suitable track and distance, could swing things this time for Bonus; but it is certainly no two-horse race as Turn on the Style (John Balding/ Paul Mulrennan) was quite impressive when winning this CD last time.

Betting forecast:
1.Race: Corriolanus - Sabre Light - Gasat
2.Race: Annabelle`S Charm - Ray Diamond - Forced Opinion
3.Race: Commandingpresence - Premier Angel - Haljaferia
4.Race: Andean Margin - Joannadarc - Sign Of Approval
5.Race: Aeroplane - Bonus - Contest
6.Race: Sgt Schultz - Art Man - Philatelist
7.Race: Millie`s Rock - Saucy - Siena Star

At Kempton, Southandwest (Stan Moore/ Chris Catlin), an easy winner at Wolverhampton yesterday, is entered in the 7 furlongs handicap at 16.15 and, if he runs, could score again; if he is pulled out, then top-weight Monkey Glas (Jeremy Gask/ Andrew Elliott), a front-runner in first-time blinkers, could be the answer. Best betting race here is the 7 furlongs handicap at 16.45 with 14 runners, which looks wide open. Lady Aspen (Ian Williams/ Stephen Donohoe) was just touched off last time and is the likely favourite, but is still a maiden. We have a sneaking fancy for bottom-weight First in Show (Andrew Balding/ Neil Chalmers), but almost anything is possible here.

Betting forecast:
1.Race: Arfinnit - Grizedale - Davids Mark
2.Race: Zuwaar - Coda Agency - Squirtle
3.Race: Southandwest - Pegasus Again - Resplendent Nova
4.Race: Lady Aspen - Torquemada - Eleanor Eloise
5.Race: Avoir Choisi - Magical Destiny - Cool Hand Jake
6.Race: Vanquisher - A Valley Away - Hatch A Plan
7.Race: Carlton Scroop - Magic Amigo - Aston Boy
8.Race: Hennessy Island - Duke Of Milan - Thabaat
