Green light for Sedgefield

Sedgefield has passed an early morning inspection and racing goes ahead, but conditions will be very testing, and with the two best races both run over extreme distances, stamina and ability to act on the ground will be most important. The handicap hurdle over 3 1/2 miles at 15.50 is the best event, and we shall stick with the low weights, making Quay Meadow (John Norton/ Mark Bradburne), Zaffie Parson (Geoff Harker/ Richard McGrath) - who meets him on 6 lbs better terms for a 1 1/2 lengths defeat last time- and course specialist Shulmin (Mrs. C. Ferguson/ Harry Haynes) our short list of three. Harry Haynes also has prospects with the light-weight Overlady in the maiden chase over 3 miles 3 furlongs half an hour lady; the dangers are Bay Cherry (Howard Johnson/ Denis O´Regan), who jumped badly last time but has the ability, and chasing debutant Cave Hill (Malcolm Jefferson/ Phil Kinsella), who both have to concede quite a bit of weight. The novice hurdle at 14.20 seems to li e between the penalised Letterpress (Howard Johnson/ Denis O´Regan) and Fiendlish Flame (Donald McCain/ Jason Maguire), while German-bred Moon Melody (Mike Sowersby/ Fearghal Davis) has an outside chance in the selling handicap hurde at 14.50
