All-weather action at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

Both all-weather meetings today, at Lingfield this afternoon and Wolverhampton this evening, have very moderate cards, and at Lingfield the two divisions of the amateur riders handicap over 1 1/2 miles that begin the day are probably the two best betting races. Trainer Gary Moore was in Dubai yesterday to cheer on on his son Ryan, who rode 2 winners, and his elder son Jamie is now well established in the top flight of N.H. jockeys. Two more children ride in the second division at 14.10 with daughter Hayley on the well-bred but frustrating Drum Major and son Joshua on Turners Touch. Possible favourite here is Steve Parr´s Augustus John, whose pilot Simon Walker is the most experienced rider in the race, but this one, although consistently placed, also consistently gets beaten. Trainer Julia Feilden has some good chances at the meeting, best of which could be top-weight Bavarica (Amy Baker) in the mile handicap at 15.10. Jamie Spencer looks the man to follow at Wolverhampton´s floodlit meeting. He can go close on Harry Up in the 5 furlongs claimer at 19.50 and Northern Empire in the 6 furlongs handicap an hour later, both for Kevin Ryan, and also has chances with top-weight Ardent Prince in the 9 furlongs handicap at 21.50 for Alan McCabe. Confidentiality won 6 successive races (including 4 this CD) on the all-weather in the autumn of 2007 for trainer Michael Wigham, but lost form when transferred to a different trainer. Now back with Wigham, she sprang a 33-1 surprise when winning at Lingfield recently. She won´t be anywhere near that price this evening, but can score again under top-weight at 22.20 with Steve Drowne in the saddle.
