Christian von der Recke at Ludlow

Ludlow also offers some decent N.H, racing today, and from the German point of view the main interest will lie in the performance of the two runners trained at Weilerswist by Christian von der Recke. In the novices handicap chase over 2 1/2 miles at 14.10 CET he saddles the consistent Forfeiter, to be ridden by Tom Scudamore. Clearly it is difficult to compare the British and German form, but Forfeiter should have an each way chance. Paquet Cadeau (Alan King/ Robert Thornton), who has won his last two, is obviously the one to beat. Von der Recke also runs Handy Ben, a winner at Hanover 6 weeks ago, in the handicap for lady riders an hour later, with the talented Irish amateur Nadine Forde, recently crowned Fegentri champion and a winner several times in Germany in the summer for the trainer. Again it is hard to make any predictions, but the trainer feels the large field could be a problem, also the shorter distance (2 miles). Best bet of the day could be David Pipe´s Prince of Persia (Tom Scudamore), who can follow up an easy win at Huntingdon last week in the valuable 3 miles handicap chase at 15.40.
