N.H. racing at Hexham and Warwick

The ground will be very testing at both today´s jumps fixtures and it would be wise to concentrate on runners that can handle the going. Companero (Howard Johnson/ Denis O´Regan) is the interesting one in the class 3 handicap hurdle over 3 miles at 15.10 at Hexham, but he has been given a huge weight for his handicap debut after winning his last 3 races, and perhaps Twelve Paces (Peter Monteith/ Ryan Mania) and Hasanpour (Karl Burke/ Mr.I. Popham), both of whom receive lumps of weight and are ridden by good 7 lb claimers as well, can be preferred under these circumstances.

At Warwick there are only 4 runners in the main feature, a 2 mile chase for 4yo´s at 15.20, which should be won by Chapoturgeon (Paul Nicholls/ Timmy Murphy), who looked like winning easily before falling last time at Exeter. Songe (Charlie Longsdon/ Tony McCoy), fourth in the Trimph Hurdle and a respectable third on his chasing debut, looks the obvious danger as Araldur (Alan King/ Robert Thornton), despite his good form, faces a tough task in giving this pair 8 lbs. The handicap hurdle half an hour later should in theory go to Faversham (J.Mackie/ Campbell Gillies) an easy winner last week and racing off the same mark, but veteran All Sonsilver (P. Kelsall/ Jamie Moore) could an interesting long shot alternative off his low weight, as he loves heavy ground.
