Irish racing today

the N.H. racing in Ireland today is much better, particularly at Navan, where there is an extremely strong card featuring several Irish jumprong stars. The Grade Two hurdle at 14.55 CET sees the return of dual Champion Hurdler Hardy Eustace (Dessie Hughes/Paddy Flood) but he faces very strong opposition, notably from Kazal (Eoin Griffin/ Barry geraghty) and the two mares Sweet Kiln (Michael Bowe/ Tom Doyle) who won the race last year and whose connections have a great record here - and Give it Time (Jessica Harrington/ Martin Bolger), while the two German-breds Aitmatov (Noel Meade/ Paul Carberry) and Catch Me (Edward O´Grady/ Andrew McNamara) also have possibilities.

The two mile chase at 15.55 has some of Ireland´s top performers in the line-up, including Mansony (Arthur Moore/ Davy Russell), Schindlers Hunt (Hughes/ Flood), Watson Lake (Meade/Carberry) and - getting weight all round - Scotsirish (Willie Mullins/ Ruby Walsh). However Noel Meade and Carberry fare in thes races, they seem to be set for a successful afternoon, with Pandorama in the maiden hurdle at 13.55 (with 30 runners!), Fisher Bridge in the Grade Three novice hurdle at 14.25 and the exciting Aran Concerto in the beginners chase at 16.25 all with winning chances.

At Limerick, the Britain v Ireland Ladies Challenge, a handicap hurdle at 15.15 could be interesting. Trainer Eric McNamara has won this race for the past 2 seasons, and now has 3 runners, best of whom could be Niubian, the mount of Katie Walsh, younger sister of Ruby. Fegentri champion Nadine Forde, who did so well in Germany this summer, rides bottom-weight and longshot Crerum, who appears to have little chance on form.
