German runners at Fontainebleau

Longchamp, Chantilly and Maisons-Laffitte have all closed their doors for the season, but there is still racing in the Paris area at Saint-Cloud and Fontainebleau, and 5 German runners try their luck at the latter track today, 4 of them in the same race, a claimer for 4yo´s and up over 2200 metres at 16.20. Emporio (Peter Schiergen/ Andrasch Starke), who won by 6 lengths last time out, is clearly the best of them and despite an outside draw should be involved in the finish. Balladur (Werner Baltromei/ Davy Bonilla), Sagawing (Michael Trybuhl/ William Mongil) and Tanimara (Toni Potters/ Thierry Thulliez) will do well to get placed in this large field of 18 runners, the same number that contest the 3yo handicap over 1800 metres half an hour later, in which Baltromei has booked Mongil to partner his outsider Titan War, as his regular jockey Dominique Boeuf was riding yesterday in Japan.
