All-weather action at Southwell and Wolverhampton.

All-weather racing this afternoon at Southwell and Wolverhampton, but very little to get excited about. The 2yo maiden at 14.45 CET at Southwell could be quite interesting; Captain Kallis (Ffrench Davis/ Frankie McDonald) put up easily his best performance when runner-up over this CD a fortnight ago, and if that was no fluke, can now defeat Hawk´s Eye (Eddie Vaughan/ Jamie Spencer), making his a.w. debut but a decent 4th of 15 last time at Windsor, and Sir Mark Prescott´s well-bred newcomer Good Humoured (Jean-Pierre Guillambert). The 2 mile handicap at 16.20 sees a rematch between consistent course specialist Victory Quest (Sue Lamyman/ Guillambert) and the lightly-raced Dart (James Fanshawe/ Spencer). The altter is now 4 lbs better off for 4 1/2 lengths and there should be little in it this time. Hot favourites in the first 3 races at Wolverhampton all look hard t berat - Albertine Rose (Willie Muir/ Martin Dwyer) in the 2yo maiden at 15.05, Isabelonabicycle (Andrew Baldin g/ Liam Keniry) in the 1 1/2 mile maiden at 15.35, and Smalljohn (Bryan Smart/ Tom Eaves) in the 2yo claiming race half an hour later. Smart and Eaves also have good prospects with bottom weight Tangerine Trees in the 5 furlongs handicap at 16.40, while German-bred top-weight Purus (RA Teal/ Eddie Ahern) has each-way chances in the 7 furlongs handicap at 17.10. The final 9 furlongs handicap at 17.0 looks very open, but if course specialist Justcallmehandsome (Ffrench Davis/ Billy Cray) is fit after his 6 months layoff, he must have a great chance, having won 5 times over this CD earlier this year.
