Leicester and Newcastle

Easily the best flat racing today comes from Leicester, and Frankie Dettori can possibly land a double for Godolphin in the two divisions of the 2yo maiden over 7 furlongs that open the card. Both Emirates Roadshow at 14.40 CET and Al Marmoon half an hour later look the form choices, but there are several potential dangers, including a well-bred Sir Michael Stoute newcomer in both races. The class 3 conditions race for 3yo fillies at 16.40 looks booked for Ghaidaa (Michael Jarvis/ Richard Hills), whose dam and sister both won the Oaks and who has been twice listed-placed, form which should be good enough here. The class 3 conditions race for 2yo´s at 16.10 looks more open, but Akhenaten (Mick Channon/ Sam Hitchcott), who has twice run respectably in group races, could prove best if he can shrug off the effort of a third race already this month. The ground will be very testing at Newcastle and the quality mainly poor, but Princess Rainbow (Jennie Candlish/ Jimmy Quinn) looks a near-certainty to win ther 1 1/2 mile maiden at 16.50 after two decent efforts in much stronger company. Another likely odds-on favourite is Sir Michael Stoute´ s Custody (Robert Winston) in the 2yo maiden at 15.50, while Allformary (Bryan Smart/ Tom Eaves) can win the fillies´ equivalent half an hour earlier.
